Meet Emma...
Meet Emma, she is our Customer and Supplier Manager she has been with Connect2Hampshire since the beginning. Emma is a crucial part of our team, she ensures our Customers and Suppliers are well looked after. Let's find out more about Emma;
What does a day in your role look like?
A day in my role currently looks like supplier payroll, e-mails and keeping the Agencies and Hiring managers happy and informed. Setting up new suppliers who want to come and work with Hampshire County Council. My days are also filled with a lot of talking, it used to be filled with a lot of face to face meetings and coffee bought from E2 Court, but how things have changed. It is now Coffee from my cupboard – somehow not quite the same! As the new norm settles in HCC have started to take to the “Teams Meetings”, so I am hoping a lot more Face to Face will resume, rather than a lot of e-mails as it’s just not the same.
What do you most enjoy about your job at Connect2Hampshire and why?
I enjoy meeting new people, and hiring managers. As well as maintaining relationships with the ones that I have already met. I love being out and about which of course is a little harder in the current climate, but I am sure that to a certain extent this will start to happen again.
I love it when we have taken on a new hiring manager, who has given us a challenge and we complete the challenge, and fill the position – and have a happy client!
How are you finding it working from home and what is your top tip for home working?
I actually found it better than I thought, I am not a WFH person as I love being in an office with people and the buzz. However, having now done this for 12 or so weeks, and it looks like I have at least another 10 to go (and that is if the schools go back and wrap around care resumes), I actually think I would like to do it a couple of times a week, any more than that and I think my husband will be moving out as I am apparently too noisy with all my calls! The hardest part of WFH is being a teacher to my children it’s is really not my thing!
How do you stay in touch with colleagues?
Mostly through Teams calls. I try and speak to the team at least once a week, some of the consultants I will speak to more depending on what the hiring managers are asking, or if the agencies need a little push in the right direction.
What Connect2Hampshire value do you most identify with and why?
I have been thinking about this and I find it difficult to just chose one, I value them all, and all at different times depending on the circumstances, and sometimes just the mood I am in.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I love running, it blows all my anxiety away, it’s my quiet time for me to think things through, whether that is work or personal. I have also found a love for cycling through the ‘stay at home’ and ‘stay safe period’. I am a little wobbly when the cars zoom past, but I will be keeping it up I think! I also enjoy socialising, having friends around, BBQ’s and noise. We have a very busy house hold and I love entertaining, putting on lots of food and drink for everyone. I look forward to being able to do this again, hopefully very soon.
