ob Title: Project Assistant - Waste and Resource Management

Location: Winchester/Hybrid

Contract Type: Temporary until 31st March 2026

Salary: £14.40 per hour

About the Role

To provide positive and proactive support on a range of key Waste and Resource Management projects to support upcoming changes to legislation and service delivery.

Support the delivery of waste projects by carrying out key tasks, including, but not limited to:

  • Data collation, interpretation and analysis
  • Updating and maintaining project documentation
  • Customer engagement - social media engagement and resident enquiries
  • Attending meetings and events related to waste and resource management
  • Contributing to written reports to support projects
  • Project support for the wider Waste and Resource Management team
  • Working with volunteers and supporting community events
  • Prioritising workload to ensure deadlines are met.

The role dimensions - financial and non-financial

  • Support colleagues as required to work with partners internally and externally to the County Council in the delivery of projects or work areas
  • Demonstrate a flexible and positive approach to changing priorities and a willingness to input through matrix working to support key areas of work, regardless of grade and normal work area.

  • Ability to communicate in a clear and confident manner both in both written and verbal formats and maintain constructive relationships with internal and external partners.

Essential Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Formal qualification (beyond GCSE or equivalent) and relevant experience as appropriate
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to undertake and review research/guidance and present findings
  • Competence of IT skills e.g. MS Office, email and internet
  • Ability to manage own workload with minimal levels of supervision and to prioritise work to achieve project deadlines
  • Team worker - supporting other team members on waste and environment projects is key to this role

Desirable Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Genuine interest in or knowledge of waste, climate change or wider environmental and sustainability issues
  • Experience of developing social media content
  • Data analysis skills
  • Full drivers licence
  • Willingness to occasionally attend community events at weekends
