Contract: 3 months (rolling)
Rate - £23 (umbrella)
Location: Basingstoke
As an Intensive Worker, you'll be part of a dynamic, mufti-skilled team based within our North West Hampshire Specialist Intensive Worker Hub. Working closely with Workers and other professionals, you'll support families facing complex and challenging circumstances. Our approach is rooted in a strength-based model, focused on helping families build resilience, embed sustainable change, and improve outcomes for children and young people.
Responsibilities
- You'll work intensively with a small number of families at a time, allowing you to build meaningful relationships and deliver tailored support that makes a lasting difference.
- Your work will take place in homes and communities, sometimes outside standard working hours -whether that's meeting with working parents in the evening or On Saturdays, or supporting families with morning or routines.
- With the flexibility to adjust your working pattern and the support of your manager, you'll be empowered to work creatively and responsively.
- This is a varied and impactful role. You might support parents who have experienced significant trauma affecting their ability to care for and safeguard their children, or deliver interventions that enable a looked-after child to retur care, your work will be central to creating positive, lasting change.
- Providing direct, intensive and interventions to families to enable parents to safeguard and achieve positive outcomes for their children.
- Supporting children and families with a wide range of, often complex, needs.
- Delivering parental support as identified through assessment, primarily within the family home.
- Undertaking direct work with parents and children, offering advice and guidance on agreed areas.
- Completing court reports and specialist parenting assessments (Cubas), following completion of Cubas training.
- Organising and chairing Family Network Meetings to engage wider support networks in planning to achieve sustainable change for families.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Behaviours
Essential
- Experience working directly with parents to develop their parenting skills.
- Experience working with children, young people, and families in a helping or caring capacity.
- Experience providing services to children and families with complex needs.
Desirable
- Direct experience supporting children and young people who have experienced trauma or loss.
- Experience managing difficult interpersonal situations effectively.
Working conditions
- Most Of your work will be with children and families in their homes or Out in the community. Travel ex#nses can claimed in line with our When not visiting families, you'll work from a designated base within your area Hub or from home, depending on the needs of the service and your schedule.
- Your working hours will vary and may fall anywhere between 7am and 10pm, with occasional Saturdays required, depending on the needs of the families you work with.
- You will be required to travel to various locations within Hampshire and the Isle of Wight or other authority, and it is essential that you have a current drivers' licence and access to a reliable vehicle on a regular basis.
